Marmota Engineering AG is a Swiss company focusing on fiber-optic sensing solutions for the geotechnical field. Through innovation within Marmota, experience from past projects and research at one of the world's leading Universities (ETH Zurich), we have developed a strong expertise on instrumentation of geotechnical problems with high performance fiber-optic sensors.
The main differentiation to our competitors is that we are passionate geotechnical engineers and thus, very clearly understand what creeping slopes, soil-embedded infrastructure and urban settlements are all about.

History
MARMOTA as a business idea started in 2009 during a business plan competition organized by McKinsey and the Swiss innovation promotion agency. We successfully won both parts of this competition (Venture 2010), obtained additional seed funding from VentureKick (the Swiss startup initiative) and became part of the Swiss National Entrepreneur Team 2011.
Monitoring operations on construction sites started in October 2010 and some month later MARMOTA was incorporated as a company under the name of Marmota Engineering AG.
